Help wanted with blending

Postby coffeefreak » Sat Feb 26, 2005 9:17 am

I'm looking for the perfect blend. Is there anyone willing to share her/his "perfect" blend with me and other users.

Soon I will start roasting (max 7 Kg. at the time) and am in search of good espresso, regular house or other interesting blends.

I have access to many different green coffee samples, so surprise me with your perfect blend. Also I like to know why you put together these coffee and what it should taste like.

Maybe I can make this more easy to give names of coffee I have access to and who knows someone have suggestions for blends.

Indonesia Toradja
Indonesia Mandheling
PNG Bintam A
Colombia Supremo
Costa Ricca Tarazzu
Brasil Santos
Guatamala Genuine Las Nubes
Kenia AA
Indonesia Java Jampit
Indonesia Java Old Brown
Indonesia Timor Maubesse
Ethiopië Sidamo

Not only the names, but also the amount of it in %

I'm not sure how much help it would be but there is an article by me on tmc http://www.toomuchcoffee.com/index.php?module=ContentExpress&func=display&btitle=CE&mid=&ceid=102, on espresso blending. If you want to talk over email about blends that work for me (not necessarily what you may want), then please pm me or email me.

Hope this helps

Hi Jan

Ok I'd start with these from your list

Indonesia Toradja 30%
Colombia Supremo 20%
Ethiopië Sidamo 30%
Brasil Santos 20%

And then change and swap as necessary. Taste and cup the blend until you are happy with it. One thing I know is what suits one person may not another.

Don’t be afraid to experiment and try different tastes and thing that you think may not work.

I hope this helps

Steve,

Still not tested this one on my 7 Kg. roaster. This week we started with Easter coffee.

40% Brasil Santos
30% Costa Rica
20% Guatamala
10% Timor Maubesse

Just to hear what customers say about this coffee. This one could be a replacement for our house blend. Giving it the name Easter coffee makes it more attractive for customers. "Special" blends for holiday's alway's sell better. A good way to sell more and have more feedback.

I'm not sure when your blend will be in sale for testing, maybe mother's day.
