Hottop roaster in UK

Postby earlscroft » Wed Feb 23, 2011 8:22 am

Is it still possible to purchase a new Hottop in the UK? Should I worry that no one appears to be distributing them over here?

An email to hottop USA returned:

Dear Mark,
You can buy from us directly.
KN8828P-2 is GBP800.00. add shipping GBP80.00.
Pls let us know if you need one.
Shelly Chiang

Exchange rate seems to be a bit out from 950 US$ or am I missing something?

- I can only say I purchased from Shelly in Taiwan last July and have enjoyed first class service for everything I needed.

Some replacement rear filters & spares are held here in the UK. Otherwise it takes just 4 days for anything to come direct from Taiwan.

Its a well established Company who have been going many years.

Yes the Hottops are cheaper in the US as are so many other things.

I purchased the 'P' which exactly suits my roasting needs. If you wish minute by minute control buy the 'B' which is cheaper.

What about invalsa.com? Do they still sell the 230V models? They sell on ebay.co.uk at least, so you'd think they would have the 230V ones.

I agree with Ron(silron1), I have also had great service from Hottop Taiwan.

A quick search for "Hottop roaster" on ebay at the moment turned up three suppliers in the USA, the cheapest is £444.99 + £61.80 postage.

I have both the Hottop P and B models and would definitely recommend the B as the one to get. I have purchased a new B control panel for mine so I can use both as B models.

1+

i dealt twice with Shelly for replacement parts. the 1st time round it was a warranty covered replacement and the 2nd a new heating element, which was reasonably priced.

Any interest here or should I just ebay it.

Colin, if you'd like to create a separate post, we'll sticky it for you, which should bring it to people's attention more.

Hopefully this won't be considered as a thread hi-jack but does anywhere in the UK stock replacement air filters for the Hottop? After serveral hundred roasts mine are looking very tired and sticky....

I assume you mean the rear filter. I do not know of UK stockist for these but I have used two thicknesses of cooker hood grease filter material, cut to size, fitted into the hottop plastic rear filter cage. These have similar back pressure to the original filter and work very well at very low cost. I use each for about 12-16 roasts then replace with new (reusing the original filter cage).

That's the one I meant and great idea :-). I think I have an unused extractor fan filter in my cellar that will soon meet Mr. Scissors...

Hello Cakey :-)

I know I've been absent from here for far too long but I've still been roasting and drinking coffee and hope to be more active here again :-)
