Rostmeister - revisted.

I notice the heat gun and hamster wheel roaster has cropped up a few times on here. However Lakeland appear to be clearing out the last few of their stock of their Röstmeister:

So £49.99 for a roaster, and if you add something cheap to the order to nudge it over £50 it's free delivery.

Is it worth a punt, has anyone used one before and roasted normal beans; or is the risk of chaff fire too real?

Not only is a chaff fire almost unavoidable, the roast results are terrible. I don't think the heat gun has an adequate capacity to properly roast untreated beans, but rather it sautees them slowly.

Thanks for the insight @bruceb.

Think I'll stick with the popcorn popper then!

I've had better results in a cast iron frying pan.

Sadly my mind has taken me to an electric frying pan and a bouncy castle.
