Too Much Cooling

Postby Joris » Sun Mar 08, 2009 2:10 pm

I played around today with a bean cooling solution I thought op. In stead of sucking air through the beans I thought it would be nice to blow air through them. This way I would get rid of most chaff and cool the beans fast.

So I used a garden blower..... 180km per hour and 8m3 per minute

I wonder why I didn't think of what would happen with that much power :

And this was left of 1200g of beans :

Now there's a room which has coffee beans in every corner and crevice :(

Thank you so much for performing this heroic experiment and especially for taking the time to document it and provide photographs. You have really made my day.

Woooo Hoooo! That is fantastic. I love it. Hopefully you have an equally powerful vacuum cleaner. Image

I decided I needed a bit of a change so I roasted some Monsooned Malabar. That was a change!

thanks :) I just replaced the engine since the other one was worn out... and I went from 500cc to a whopping 650cc :) It is a type R from '73 by the way.

But about the gardenblower... it will still be usable, I just have to make a lid with chaffcollector for it. Fortunately I did this test with old beans, I don't want to imagine the damage it could've caused with 1200g of propelled beans at a temp of of 250C
