Strange roast outcome

Postby quink » Thu Sep 16, 2004 3:40 pm

I was roasting in the imex last night, and had the weirdest effect on the finished beans. The beans were near charcoal black in parts and medium roasted in others. I'll see if I can get a good pic of a bean to post showing the differences on it. Had the imex next to an open window, and it was a bit cold last night, which may have caused this. The first crack came and went but no second crack happened, even up to about 20mins . Has anyone else managed to charcoal a bean without it hitting the second?? I'm going to drink it anyway, or maybe take it to work cant be any worse than instant

My first roaster was from Aerolatte and I think it was the same as the Imex (just differently badged). I had that problem frequently - some beans were blackened while others were still yellowish. In the end I sent it back for a refund and bought a Hottop instead.
I wish I were what I was when I wished I were what I am.

Sumatra lingtong.

This has to be the first time I've had a bad roast from the imex. If it happens again it might be time to upgrade 8)
