Looking for home roasters and Technivorm in Barcelona

Postby wkulwich » Mon Oct 15, 2007 6:42 am

I am thinking about turning myself into a novice home roaster. The I-Roast 2 and also the Technivorm KB-741 drip coffee maker catch my attention.

I live in Bangkok (220-V system) and so am looking to buy those from Europe. (Couldn't find them here in leading stores.) I will be on a business trip to Barcelona next April. If anyone could let me know where to buy these items from there, I'd be really grateful! :D

I think some of online sellers willing to ship you the 220V roaster.

Gene cafe / Hottop analog are also good choice for upgrade.

I suggest mini 500 from Taiwan is a serious upgrade too.

I prefer half direct fire / direct fire roasting.

Thanks

If you've never tried roasting I would thoroughly recommend having a go with the Heat Gun / Dog Bowl method before spending big $ on a roasting device. It's an amazing sense of satisfaction and the results will be excellent after the first attempt which will probably not be great! (But neither will they be from a roasting device) Search this forum and other sites for info.

Don't know sales outlets, but these people: http://www.forum-cafe.com/ are distributing I-Roast 2 to their members.
They probably can help you find a re seller.

Thank you so much, everybody!

I've found a Canadian online site selling 220V Caffe Rosto CR 100. Also found out that I-Roast 2 is sold by a Hearthware distributor, Coffee Agency, in Madrid and probably in Barcelona too (according to an e-mail reply from a Hearthware representative).

I've read George Howell's comment in The Wall Street Journal May 23, 2003, speaking highly of Caffe Rosto (but the company has discontinued this). Can you folks give me your thoughts on these 2 models?

Also, I kinda slowly switch my mind from Technivorm to a Yama vacuum coffee maker. I'm pretty sure I should be able to get a Yama here in Bangkok, Thailand some time soon. Your comment on this is also appreciated!
