Gene Cafe Roast Logs

Postby grib » Sun Sep 02, 2007 11:00 pm

I don't know if its helpful to anyone, but I've built up quite a few roast profiles lately and thought I could share them as I'm now moving over to Google docs. So I'll start with these and if anyone else has any, feel free to post them too.

I was just looking at the roast logs you posted. Is it really true that the Kenyan gave 273g roasted from 295 green. That is amazing. Everything I have roasted so far has dropped from 300g to 255-265 region.
Espresso: BFC TCI Lira.
Grinders: Eureka Mignon (2), Mahlkonig Guatemala,
Roaster: Gene Cafe.
Retired... Cimbali Junior, Cimbali Alinox.

Yep its true, I've had a busy week or so and havent got to update the logs online but my spreadsheet on the laptop shows a more or less consistent drop in weight. What roaster are you using? My old Nesco used to drop less

Amazing . .
Fresh green coffee contains about 11 to 12,5% humidity.
This you will lose plus chaff and other material in the bean, look at the smoke produced.
A roasting loss of 17 to 20% is calculated.
If you start with old beans, less moisture, yield figures might turn out better.
