Sudden upgrade fever

Postby MKSwing » Sun Dec 12, 2004 8:42 pm

Well, more evolution than upgrade because until now I just brewed espresso. But today, I bought a Bodum Santos set (this will look cool on my christmas table with the guests) and a french press. Plus it's been 2 days I try to resist from buying the Hottop but I think I'll surrender tonight...

Still without a Hottop? Shame on you. You will find out that the coffee from a french press will taste a bit like dyed water. No body! Thats why I refer to these pots as a "Pümpel", much to he dismay of a friend who swears by them.

 :?:
On the contrary I find that plunger coffee is some of the 'chewiest' you can make bodywise. What you describe suggests a grind that is way too coarse - maybe grind a bit finer which of course means extraction time shorter....

I am weak. I ordered the hottop yesterday... :D

So now, I just wait for ESW refurbished Mazzer and my christmas coffee experience should be nice... I just hope not to ruin my next Blue Mountain roast like I did with the first one

Congratulations Stephane - a good choice!

(but hey - everyone expected me to say that )

Alex - I strongly disagree with you and completely agree with Matt. Unless of course you're comparing espresso to brewed coffee, which is apples-and-oranges anyway.
