Too Much Coffee

Hi everyone,

so after waiting around 100 days it's finally here:D I received a huge parcel at work today and will post some pics later on:)

I'd like to take a chance here and officially thank Bruce for helping me out with this. He packed the whole thing very well and made sure that all the details on the box were correct. So again, thanks a lot Bruce, for all the driving around, trying to find packing materials, testing the grinder, keeping me informed, stealing a blanket from your mother-in-law and making sure the whole thing arrives safely:D

There's a crack in the top left corner of the frame, but it doesn't really matter as I will be modifying the top cover anyway. The burrs are dull as hell, but I do have a couple of spare pairs, so again it's not a problem. The rest looks good, the grinder is clean inside the case, usual coffee build up around the burrs and the chute, but nothing major. It should be running tomorrow or on Friday.

Congratulations. Every home should have one of these. Write to your MP now to demand government subsidised retail mills for every household in the country. They did it for digital TV and that's crap compared to coffee.

Ahhhh, the appropriate grinder for the "Jet-Steam Ai-1." They look like they were made for one another.

Hi guys,

this question is probably only for Guat/Kenia users, but others might chime in as well:

do you ever have problems with beans getting stuck in the auger chamber (the auger that feeds the burrs)?

Also do you simply fill the hopper with beans or grind per shot?

I'm wondering if building another grinder timer is necessary.

Not that I'm aware of, I tend to lose about a gram when grinding 26g for a filter. Giving the bag clip a good whack after grinding gets rid of anything stuck. I only put what I want to grind into the hopper as the auger does a good job of transporting the coffee so I don't think it's neccessary to have a weight of coffee feeding the burrs like an espresso grinder.

thanks for the info, for now I will stick to grind-per-brew.

I almost finished cleaning the thing, I soaked the inner parts in Cafiza, removed old grease and dried it properly. The auger piece rusted a little bit because of this, but it's just surface spots which disappear when cleaned with a dremel wire brush. I will polish the chute today and try to put it back together.

Do you think I should protect the iron auger with some Hammerite or simply clean the rusty spots and leave it as it is?
