Too Much Coffee

Hi,

I was thinking of taking some FP coffee to work in a thermos. To do this I think the brew will need filtering. what's the best way to do this? Some paper drip filters and a filter funnel?

i might sound stupid, but why not do a drip coffee in the first place using a melitta cone and paper filter ?

hadn't thought about it!

never tried drip coffee, any advice (or a link to tips) for making it this way?

You could take a 3 cup Bodum to work. Most places have a kettle.

Take it one step further and take a small hand grinder as well.

i wanted to avoid decamping my coffee kit to work...

Narra suggestion is the best option, 'swat I do. Hand grinder, french press...voila!

Other than that, I have also used a Thermos for FP coffee and never had a problem. No need to filter. Why make life hard??

if it doesn't cause any problems I'll just dump it in a thermos, I'd read that the brew can become quite bitter if it's not filtered to remove excess grounds.

a few good cafes here in New York use french press into thermos and hold it for about an hour. There doesn't seem to be a problem with clogging, but they do wash them well.

I tried running some french press through a paper filter. I like it, it had a little more clarity than the unfiltered french press, but more body than just paper filter. But it was a lot of trouble.

Why not just get a vac pot? Best of both worlds.

obviously. those places do exist (and I am lucky enough to work at one).

Try it - tastes fine to me, too Not quite as good as drinking it fresh (you lose the bubbles on top, etc), but not bad at all. Maybe best with a coarse-ish grind for the FP - I tend to use one anyway - so you don't get much grit in the coffee...

FP into a thermos tastes fine to me, I don't have problems with fines causing excessive bitterness even after an hour or two.
