Not quite sure if I need to apologise for bringing this thread back to life, I'm having the same doubt about the clean taste that the Aeropress gives me and am teetering on the edge of converting it with a gold filter. If I'm going to get the same coffee as with my press-pot is there any point in converting the Aeropress when someone else, a visitor perhaps may prefer the extra clean taste.

I'm just at the end of a roasting of Old Brown Java which I find a very distinctive coffee, the Aeropress seems to take away it's distinct-ness.

Does fitting a gold filter lift the Aeropress slightly above a press-pot in filtering terms ?
