New machine,Any suggestions?

Postby CathyG » Sun Jun 02, 2013 2:09 pm

I think my Wega Mini Nova is on the way out! The amount we have spent on repairs in the last year sunsets it's time to look for a new machine. We bought it approx 6 years ago as a refurb so it owes us nothing! Was looking at the same machine, but it's coming in at around £1300. Anyone any suggestions on cheaper models or good refurbs? Would prefer one that can be plumbed in.

Have you considered the Nuova Simonelli Oscar? I have no personal experience of it but it is generally highly regarded. I believe it can be plumbed in and it is available in the Uk for less the £600. 8)

You can check out reviews online from a number of coffee forums and search on TMC for "Oscar" for comments from users. If you are interested check out Amazon UK for a low price at the moment. :D

Thanks. Having been looking at Isomac and Francino too. When it's such an expense I really don't want to get it wrong!

That is a very good price for such a desirable machine. 8)

Hi CathyG. Having owned several machines since I had an Oscar - It was only beaten by a Feama Compact.

This includes a whopping Gaggia commercil machine and an ECM E61. Oscar out performed these snd also compared very well against machines such as the L'anna. It may not be the prettiest, but would outclass the Francino ans Isomac in an instant.

My biggest regret coffee wise is selling my Oscar several years ago now.
