Well I had a big clean of the rocky yesterday and I've put in some new burrs

I was surprised at the gunk built up on the upper and lower burr carriers, i suppose it was to be expected given the dark roast and slightly oily beans I have used since the last clean I gave it

Difference is night and day
Zero point is same as before at about 3 on the dial, running it at 8 gives me plenty fine enough grind for a decent espresso...enjoying my yirgacheffe this afternoon much more and SWMBO even commented on the quality of her flat white so I must be doing something right!

Anyway for now upgraditis is cured....how long for I don't know though, will probably still keep an eye out on eBay for a SJ or similar
