Talk me out of a Faema Legend E61

My mind keeps wandering to a Faema Legend E61 sitting on my kitchen worktop and I feel I must own this beauty of a machine. It’s not that I consider myself a true coffee aficionado and that I must have one of these machines, it’s just something I could see myself living with and never tiring of. Does anybody have a good enough reason as NOT to own one? If so I would like your comments please. In order to finance my dream I would need to sell my pimped Izzo Duetto complete with wooden handles/knobs. Again I’m not sure what a second hand price would be for this? your comments please.
dennis.

Well if you like E61-Style machines you have absolutely no reason not to spend all your money on beautiful vintage kit :). Consider an original E61 over a Legend? ;)

Does anyone NEED a Bentley Continental GT II? No, I don't think so. Is the Bentley the best car in the world? Aside from this being a silly question, the answer would have to be NO.

This is not a question of logical choice or sensible decisions. This is purely a matter of fascination and anyone who would try to talk you out of what fascinates you would not be doing you a favour. The Legend is probably not a great espresso machine, but there is nothing else that looks like it and fascinates people like it does. No one else can help you decide. Just be aware that you are buying something in your own head and probably nothing else will do. If this doesn't cause you enormous stress financially I would say that you should go for it. Otherwise you will always regret not having done it. You may well regret doing it, too, but then you will be wiser for the decision.

Nice one Bruce. I was thinking more on the lines of the pros and cons. And yes I could live without it. :)

Well, if you don't have the means then forget it. If you want a machine that is better than your Izzo Duetto you can find any number of them that are much less expensive than the Legend. If you want the Legend because of the way it will look on your kitchen counter and nothing else will do then you have a problem. :?

 maybe we should take up a subscription for the purchase and demand the right to pop in for a coffee when we are passing ...

For pity's sake do not buy this machine:

1 She is far to beautiful.

2 Can you trust such a lovely creature in your sad little hovel?

3 Can you live with it when she leaves you for an elegant Diedrich?

4 Are you man enough for her needs?

5 I will save your heartache and take her off you, for a small fee of course.

Lighten up Bruce :) I'm with Motoman on this :D Why do people buy from Armani when they can go to Primark?

Just to settle this once and for all. The dowside is that if you do not buy it, you will regret it. If you do buy it you will regret it. Bit like the supposed one night stand with the girl from high school you always fancied I suppose...

Well what have you to lose apart from a few quid...and your mind. Small price to pay IMHO.

Oh and don't listen to Motoman...we entertain him due to a contractual clause in his Care in the Community contract.
