Espresso cups

Postby Cattytown » Thu Nov 24, 2011 10:32 am

Hi Guys, I know I haven't been around for a while, but since getting the Vivi I have been enjoying my coffee!

Anyway, it's that time of year and I am being asked what I want as a present for the festival of the merchants.

Having a quick skim I see a recommendation for the Habitat Arabika cup. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Style wise I love the old reptila set from FF, but they look a little lightweight. Something retro would be cool, but I'd want to avoid twee!

Thanks,
Paul.

Hi Cattytown,

I can`t find pictures of the cups you mention, but I love my Ancap Torino cups. Thick, one piece so no breaking ears, no marks after 4 years of usage. They also make Cappucino cups.

Thanks - they look a nice solid, understated cup. Just a matter of seeing a decent source for them to the uk..

The FF cups I mentioned are long discontinued but can be seen at http://www.redmonkeycoffee.co.uk/cart/i ... ocups.html

I think realistically they would be too expensive for me to use.

Wow, that is a coincidence. I was onlt thinking back the other day and wondered if Red Monkey were still about. Tried a a sample pack from them way back in the early days.

Before I bought my first machine, theirs was a website I looked at quite a bit as they sold the FF X1 which had a nice retro look. I ended up with an Innova dream.

Hello,

Great selection here : http://coffeecups.co.uk . I rather like the Como range but loads of choice there, lots of styles.

Coffeehit also have some very nice cups including Ancap : http://www.coffeehit.co.uk/coffee-cups/c21

The Olympia range at http://www.nisbets.co.uk are also pretty nice.

I can strongly recommend the Ancap ones Coffeehit are selling. I have the branded ones from Londinium espresso. They are a great shape, very, very thick and actually do affect the taste (which I think is so poncey that I hate to write it)

The Habitat cups are worth looking for if you can find an open branch of Habitat. They went down to £5.00 for six cups and saucers and are as pretty good.

Though I've had a slight accident with a credit card and Como espresso cups and saucers since reading the thread.
