La Scala Butterfly and Mazzer Jolly Grinder

Postby Algerian » Sat Dec 24, 2011 8:22 pm

@JankSolid I can't thank you enough for the great coffee machine you've supplied. I love using it and learning its ways. You took such care over refurbishing this machine and matching the colour to my need.

Believe me it's come to a good home.

And thank you for looking over the Mazzer for me too.

Photos and experiences will be coming shortly. :D

La Scala Butterfly pictures in situ

Postby Algerian » Mon Dec 26, 2011 6:52 pm

I've had the La Scala Butterfly in residence for a few days now and I'm having great fun using it and drinking the results. Many thanks to @JankSolid for producing such a wonderful coffee machine.

The sides are painted and here Mike let me choose the colour. I selected a Turquoise that melded nicely with the kitchen as you can see.

And looking down on the machine

But most important, here's the coffee

And the coffee is ground with the assistance of a refurbished Mazzer Super Jolly Doser grinder, to which Mike and Lawrence fitted new burrs for me.

Superb! The colour really does go well in your lovely kitchen (I'm envious of the big door/window in the background!). An excellent grinder and an excellent machine. Image

I decided I needed a bit of a change so I roasted some Monsooned Malabar. That was a change!

Very nice setup! Love the colour job. No need for shame or whatsoever with this machine/grinder combi :)

Happy pouring!

I think the only sensible comment I could make would be 'Ooooh Shiney.....'

Don't know how I missed this thread. The machine looks fantastic, how are the shots?

Also can I suggest respraying the Mazzer in a complimentary colour :-)

I have thought of doing that. I'll have to go through the RAL range. JankSolid did show me a picture of a Mazzer he'd resprayed. It looked very good indeed!

The shots are coming out a treat. Still trying different settings on the Mazzer--very fine gradations, as Lawrence showed me. I'm having great fun with it.

Wow. That is some machine. Just put e61 Hx at the top of things to own before I die.
Fortunately I'm planning on taking my time before that happens though
Enjoy and be happy that you've given me shiney machine envy
