Custom-Sized Tampers in EU?

Postby Danomar » Tue Nov 01, 2011 4:57 pm

Does anyone know where I can get 43.5mm and 45mm flat-bottom tampers in the EU? I tried cafelat.com, tamper.dk, ESW, and a few others with no success.

Don't know of any custom tamper mfrs, are Gorilla Tampers still going?

I'd get one made up at an engineering shop, it's a very simple job for anyone with a lathe. Take your baskets with you for a perfect fit.

order them from Reg Barber?

Or as Bombcup says, with some tooling.

Getting anything from the States into Germany is a major hassle, so Reg Barber is out.

Getting one turned down would be easy if I knew someone who could do it.

I happened to visit my friend in The Netherlands last weekend. We went to The Hague and I visited Espresso Service West. They turned down a Moka tamper for me in their shop, so I'm good with the 45mm one. Big cheers to Sander and everyone over at ESW! Great folks to work with!

I still need a thin (5mm) 43.5mm tamper for my Arrarex Caravel, so perhaps I can get one from Orphan Espresso when I visit this summer.
