Interesting Crema Effect

Postby tisri » Thu Aug 26, 2004 9:04 pm

I noticed something really strange this evening. I was making a long coffee with the Gaggia Syncrony using the tail end of the Lozahoren beans I roasted last weekend. I drew two "medium coffee"s into a mug and noticed that the crema was not only two-tone but formed almost perfect eccentric circles.

I had a circle of pale crema covering the entire cup, then an inner circle of darker, redder crema with one edge touching the edge of the cup, then a paler circle within that, then another darker, redder circle, then another pale circle.

Unfortunately by the time I dug out my camera it had mostly dissipated. Has anyone seen anything like that before?
I wish I were what I was when I wished I were what I am.
