Fitting group seals

Postby scottwhite » Fri Sep 02, 2005 10:14 am

noticed a topic on here a while ago, can't find it now, but thought i would mentiona few points as people seem to struggle a little sometimes with these.

As mentioned, if the seal has writing on this generally faces upwards.

If the seal is flat on one side and has a groove on the over then it is the flat face that faces upwards.

If both sides are flat and there is no writing on the seal then the shiny side should face upwards.

When you take your old seal off the exposed area should be cleaned with some diluted puly caff or similar, scrubbed with a cleaning brush until completely clean and dry.

If you have problems getting the filterholder back in, you may find the seal needs a bit of help.

You can do this by inserting just one lug of your filterholder handle and giving it a twist, this may push the seal into place, sounds odd but it often works.

Finally if your handle does not go to 6 o'clock but seals well, that's a good thing IMO, as your seal wears in it will go to 6 o'clock, in some cases futher round!

Hope that may be of help to someone on here in the future, also worthy of note is it's a good idea to change the shower plate while you're there at the same time, it all ads up.
