Sorry - who are you? I know I have one membership request outstanding, from someone who I emailed back and asked to choose their username. I've been waiting for that one for some time.

Any potential new member please note - if you don't decide on your username before mailing me, I'll only mail you back asking you to choose your username. So please save us both a few seconds and do that first.

So, Mr / Ms Guest - are you Alison?

Sorry - just check your IP which seems to say you are Danish. So maybe you're not Alison.

Enlighten me please.

Re the st. Helena - Joey, did you taste it yet? I brought 125g of it from my trip to hamburg, which was roasted on the same day I bought it. The cupping notes are to be found in my blog, and I think it's worth every pence. I wonder how it would taste in the clover ... *sigh* :)

You can't imagine how hard it has been to find a hearthware vendor on the net. Finally, I ordered it via http://www.sandalj.com/ and now I'm waiting for the invoice.

Hi Stephane, the main reason you had difficulty in finding a vendor, is that the US Company Hearthware stopped production of the Precision, about one year ago. They also stopped advertising spares for the Precision.
I guess the (above) company, you have ordered from, will probably supply spares under warranty, but how long will their spares stock last?
The Precision is a good machine and compares favourably with the Imex.

In as much as the island has a close ties to the UK, what experiences have you had with St. Helena coffee? It is almost impossible to get in the United States and the service from St. Helena is very poor.

Les, Is that you of Thor tampers? Greg ( home-barista) here from Portland( about 150 mile north of you. Glad to know that these folks know of your skilled and beautiful tampers here. I may have the machine I need handles and knobs and a tamper made for soon........ if I would just quit switching and trying new ones....

Yes, we know of Les' wonderful creations Mo. Many of us have one and one or two of our motley crew have more than one.

Here is an idea. We have so many guests here now that are well known on other forums (and whom many of us know) that it might be nice to sort something out so that we at least can all identify each other more easily when we chat and get more from our conversations as a result. Although TMC has a strictly European based membership policy, perhaps it would be nice to allow regular guests from around the world to have a user name that allowed log-in to this (the Open House) section only. This would not go against site membership policy, but it would make life easier. What do you reckon Phil/Mods? :D

But isn't the Hearthware also coming from the US?

I can get St Helena in March....still deciding if I should risk it

Yep, Precision US made, but now they've replaced it with the iRoast.

Did you risk the St.Helena and how did it taste?
