Hovav,

I would like to have a good grinder for an affordable price, 500€.

My wishlist:
- small beanhopper for 20g of beans or so..
- grind all the beans in one go, none or very little grounds remaining,
. I can live with wasting 2-3g to get rid off stale old grounds,
. I can live with adding another type of beans when I want another coffee.
- silent, I get up early and my family hates being awakened by grinding noise.
- cold to keep max coffee taste in the grounds. A prosumer does not grind continuously, so the warming of the grinder should be no problem.
- A good distribution of the grounds in the PF. A high enough shute should do the trick, maybe helped by a simple wire distributor or PF vibrator
. ( I silent one that is ).
- A lifetime of at least 10 years, burs can be replaced earlier.
- An 'infinite' fine adjustment of the ground size.
- A very sharp groundsize distribution, ie d90/d10 = 2

Nothing so far, I like your electric pot, but you need to be more 'hands on'. I'm guessing the Prosto and a frying pan are within budget. Remove finger from dyke and join the 'in crowd' - Woooosh!

I think this time I won't go for the top-down approach. Think I'll go for a Gaggia Classic and drill the bottom of the pf out to make it bottomless.

btw will post drawings the wackiest espressomaker I can image soon :)

Aadje, espressoxxl.de has bottomless portafilters even for gaggia machines, at prices around 30€. They seem to be very nice, although I'm still waiting for my gaskets (manufacturer hasn't delivered yet).

Ah! only 3 weeks from joining and you are talking Gaggia - love it.
I don't normally gamble, but I think you'll be upgrading the Gaggia within another 6 months or within 1000 posts ...... whichever comes sooner.

We'll see, we'll see.

But is the Gaggia classic any good (prefer a Domobar or Vivi ofcourse, but they're too expensive for me . . .)?
