GB, our cat is having issues dumping the roast on time. Shoddy work on your part if I may say so |

| Well this may be the issue. He isn't trained, we simply fitted a cat-alytic converter and assumed this would do the trick. In any case, it is very difficult having to keep sorting the beans from the cat litter in his dirt tray ............ |

Ooooooh, Cakey Luwak! You should have bought a cat-scanner instead of a a cat-alytic converter, mate. |

So true, all we ended up with was a cat-astrophe |

Well, GB, the new version is great, as expected. Thanks again for all your efforts!
ps - I particularly like the pop-up message after ejecting the beans, "You burned them again, you silly git." |

Glad you like it Bruce.

The program is, of course, able to assess the quality of the roast and the roaster. The message you mentioned is programmed to be displayed only when it detects that the roast is burned and the roaster is….. well you get the idea.
I can only infer that it was not as impressed with you as you are with it.
I am delighted to see that the new offence suppression module has done a good job. This module assesses the message before it is displayed and modifies, if possible, to provide an accurate assessment whilst minimising any offence. I can see in this case it has successfully dropped the word "old" between "silly" and "git". I hope you will agree this avoids any unnecessary offence.
I hope you are happy with this preliminary assessment and I am sure that it will soon come to feel about you the same way that the rest of us do. |

GB, I think you have sent us the wrong version of the software, ours is marked "Roast Logger (Special BB only Version)" and it calls us names after every single roast
Oddly, in the software credits George is indeed thanked for contributing "additional subjective commentary material" ........ |

Have you been hanging around with George these days???

Wow, thanks guys. I am so deeply honoured to be mentioned in the same posts as the venerable George. He is the undisputed grand master of the accurate subjective comment delivered with charm and the minimum of offence.
I am thinking of asking him if he would be willing to help me develop this idea into a new satnav system with the huge added benefit of delivering an accurate critique of your driving at the end of each journey. I expect that such a device would sell like hot cakes. I hope to have this ready for sale before Valentines Day as I can not think of anything else that would say "I Love You" in quite the enduring way this system would. |

Pure genius
Though ........ would it be an all new system, or a rehash of the roasting logger with, in addition to George's dulcet tones offering directional guidance, a webcam capturing the speedo readout every second or so in order to produce a 'speed curve', and a probe inserted goodness knows where recording the temperature of the driver? |

Thank you for your encouragement and additional interesting thoughts Cakey, I will give them some serious consideration. The idea really comes from the posts by yourself and Bruce so I consider that you two are the geniuses and should be credited with this.
I see the essence of the idea being a device that will provide a "George style critique" of the operator at the end of each and every operation. This may well be extended to providing a helpful, and relentless, ongoing critique during the operation. You and Bruce showed the way by applying this to a roast logger I have simply adapted your idea for a satnav.
Just imagine the sheer joy that will ensue from your loved one having the latest critique of their driving ringing in their ears when they arrive home at night. Why, when they open the door and you say "hello dear how was your day", they will hardly be able to contain themselves.
If you and Bruce would be kind enough to provide me with your full postal addresses I will see that you are credited with the idea. No doubt many "grateful customers" will pay you a visit to "thank you in person" for the joy this system has brought to them and their families.
I am already receiving enquiries for the purchase of large numbers of the devices to be given away free as promotional material by mail-shots from a large chain of divorce lawyers. I can not imagine why they wish to give them away but I suppose that is their business. |

It has recently come to my notice that the hottop.com.au site now includes information on a bean mass probe upgrade and recommends and links to the Roast Logger for datalogging saying the following:
quote:
Datalogging Software
The datalogging software is very easy to use. Its features include:
• View a graph of the roast in real time
• Save a .csv log of the roast when it's finished
• Save an image file of the graph (.png format) for easy viewing later
• Load an old roast profile as a template (e.g. a particularly successful roast you want to repeat) so you can see how the current roast is tracking compared to the known good template
• Accepts input from up to two digital multimeters
• Mount a webcam in front of the Hottop's display and the software will read the environmental temperature from the Hottop's screen!
Download roast logging software here.

It is nice to know that our work is appreciated. |
