Here's a suggestion for you guys, how about a favicon for the site?
For those who don't know what I mean, take a look at this:
See those icons in the bookmark bar? Those are favicons. Notice that TMC's bookmark doesn't have one, so I need to put the site name alongside it to identify it (Samsung's site doesn't either.) I think that it would be much nicer (and look much more professional) if we had an icon there.
It would look better in tabs too:
With this in mind, I have painstakingly hand crafted (well, I took a clipart one and modified it slightly by making the background transparent) a coffee bean and saved it in the correct format.
So, here it is:
http://www.cginternet.net/tmc/favicon.ico
All that's required is to place that file in the root directory of TMC and it should just work.
What does everyone think? |

Only if someone can come up with a cooler one, y'know Kees style, suitable for the future release of the TMC beanie.
Actually I'm really thinking how did you get rid of the writing next to the icons? |

That's easy. Edit the bookmark and delete the name. |

Ooh, ta, lots of space!
Now I think I like them, now I know they are not clutter. |

I'd like to contribute:
"At first here stood an article, it stood here for a long long time, but at a given moment it had to go to the bathroom, so the article did so, and now it is gone, and to notify you of that fact, this sentence has been placed here, thank you."

For the record we used to have a favicon, years ago. I must have mislaid it during an upgrade.
If anyone wants to provide a replacement, please mail it to me at "phil" at the domain name of this site and I'll be happy to consider your offering.

There's one in this very thread, just up there a little.
'tis here:
http://www.cginternet.net/tmc/favicon.ico
Of course, if someone with more talent than me (not difficult) wishes to come up with a better one, now's your chance. |

| I' m not understanding something, I guess. I've had an icon of a steaming cup of coffee for TMC ever since I joined. Are we talking about something different? |

That icon was on the old "blue" TMC site.
Actually it's still on the backup of the old site, although my command-line "locate" didn't find it for some reason.
I can only assume that your machine has cached the old icon, Bruce.
I've copied the old icon over to the current site. If however people would prefer the new (but significantly larger) new icon, let me know.
Thanks
Phil |
