Cannot beleive my luck with this, found it at work and convinced my boss to let it go for £30 to my good home. So I now have a lovely little (not so much) La Pavoni ZIP
After a day and a half cleaning it I've finally got it to a stage where I can photograph it. It was filthy, completely and utterly. Some was due to being sat for some time but some was just coffee filth.
I used it at work a couple of times to make a shot of whatever I had on me, but now its a lot cleaner internally it ought to be even better.
I think it could do with a new set of burrs and as far as I can tell they're the same set as the Obel DSQ which are the same measurments (64mm wide, 38mm inner diameter 9mm thick and left rotation) and from what I can tell are very similer grinders but if anyone knows about that I would love confirmation before I spend.
I will eventually remove the telescopic tamper but I couldn't find a spanner to remove the bolt holding it on, so don't judge me...
Piccies...

Just had my first coffee out of it - delicious and even though the burrs are pretty worn still a lot better than my old Iberital, no film of fines left on the eva filter. Happy days |

Nice - it looks to have the same doser up front as my Bezzera grinder did - to go by the cast brass handle on the right hand side.
Not trying to go off topic - but do any manufacturers make left-handed dosers? |

Hmmmmm, I don't remember ever seeing one, but thinking about it, I believe I would prefer to hold the basket in my right hand and dose with the left, even though I am right-handed. Sounds like a project. |

I think you can switch mine over to the left, certainly looked that way from the way the doser is moulded. Maybe youd need new parts to actually do it tho |

I've never really thought about it, I'm left handed but it doesn't seem an issue to dose with my right hand and hold the PF with my left, the only awkwardness comes from preferring to tamp with my left hand so I have to switch. But tbh I think it would feel more awkward to dose with my left hand. Then again I'm slightly ambidextrous, certain tasks I perform leftie and others with my right, so it muddies the water a bit.
But ditto, I've never seen a left-side mounted dosing arm, it could be done with a reversal gear meaning that the chamber still rotates the usual way (clockwise) , or with all the parts made so the dosing blades travel counterclockwise rather than clockwise. Or alternatively have it so you push the handles to turn the mechanism which could be done simply by rotating the mechanism within the casing. If anyone wants to try gutting their grinder to try it would certainatly be interesting. For me the pushing idea would feel a bit more natural for my left hand but that would just be personal preference.
Sounds like a project for someone with more grinders and time than myself. |

| I just got my oul fellas one, and put a few new parts on it (box repair etc) and when I am feeling lazy, use the Black and Decker wireless screwdriver thingy.. works perfect, and put the ground beans in again and you could talc a baby's backside. |
